A studio with sixty dancers has no buying power. But a hundred studios ordering the same costume do – and at Costume Buyers Club, the price band is set by what the whole club orders, not by what you order.

Another studio's order makes yours cheaper.

Say you need 19 of one costume. On your own, that's a small order at a small-order price.

But a studio in Perth needs 35 of the same style. Together the club is at 54 – and you both pay the 51–75 price. Not your price and their price. The same price.

On one of our preschool styles that's $62.70 a costume instead of $86.54. On your 19, that's $452.96 you didn't spend, because someone you've never met ordered the same tutu.

That's the whole idea. A hundred and thirty-seven studios, one order, one price – and everybody gets the best one.

Your price can go down after you order. It can't go up.

You pay the band price showing when you order. If the club's combined total lands in a better band by the time the window closes, we refund you the difference – on every costume in your order.

So there's nothing to gain by waiting to see what everyone else does. Order early, order your whole concert, and if the club pushes into a better band, money comes back to you.

Why the window matters

Because the bands are collective, every studio that orders inside the window makes the price better for every other studio – and every studio that leaves it too late takes a little off everyone's total.

That's why we run windows instead of taking orders year-round, and it's why we ask for your whole concert rather than a routine at a time. Your finale costumes aren't just your finale costumes – they're twelve more units toward the band that prices everyone's order, including yours.

How the bands work

What you pay, and what you make

Every costume carries a recommended retail price – what you'd onsell to your dance families at. The gap is yours. We don't take a cut of it.

One routine covers the $199 membership three times over. A concert is usually eight or nine.

How it works

1. Join. You get your login code and the Costume Sizing Calculator the moment you check out, and you can start adding to your cart straight away.
2. Build your order. Nine collections, preschool through to seniors – ballet, jazz, tap, acro, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop. Browse at member pricing across the full catalogue.
3. Choose your dates. Tell us when you need it and we'll schedule your shipment for then. You can split delivery across several dates if your concert calendar needs it.
4. One box, your studio's name on it. Costumes from multiple suppliers arrive combined in a single consignment – one delivery, one freight bill, not parcel by parcel.
5. We settle up. Once the window closes and the club's totals are final, any band improvement comes back to you as a refund.

Our Made to Order option sends your order to manufacture the day we receive it. Wholesale pricing applies; the collective band discount doesn't – your order isn't going in with everyone else's, so it can't ride on their volume. It's the honest trade: speed and flexibility in exchange for the band.

Nobody else in this industry can say your order goes to the machinist the day it arrives. We can.

If you've spent years wishing someone made the costume in your head, this is the tier that does something about it – and because everything we add goes into the catalogue at club pricing, what you ask for gets made at a price you'd never reach on your own.

Your subscription renews annually on the date you join.

What your fee pays for

Not a platform. A buying department you'd otherwise have to run yourself:

• Negotiation. Monthly price revision meetings with every supplier, so your pricing keeps moving in the right direction.
• Quality control. Our agents inspect before anything ships. You don't find out about a fabric problem at dress rehearsal.
• Sourcing. We're constantly sampling and adding new designs – and Contributor members tell us what to look for.
• Freight. We find the shipping option that fits your budget and your dates, and consolidate your suppliers into one consignment.

The questions we get asked most

So I don't know my final price when I order?
You know your maximum. You pay the band price showing at the time, and if the club's combined total finishes in a better band we refund you the difference on every costume. Your price can improve after you order – it can't get worse.

Should I wait and see what everyone else orders first?
No, and that's the point of the refund. Waiting gains you nothing and it costs the club volume, which costs everyone the better band. Order early and you're covered either way.

Can I see prices before I join?
Member pricing is behind the login – it's negotiated on behalf of the group and it isn't public. The bands above are real figures from one of our preschool styles, and if you'd like exact pricing for a specific routine before you commit, email us and we'll send it.

What if my dancer numbers change?
They always do. Order your spares in the middle sizes – and remember your spares count toward the club's total too, so they help everyone's price including your own.

What if I only need one or two routines?
You're welcome, and you'll pay exactly what a studio ordering two hundred pays. That's the point of a co-op – small studios buy at big-studio prices.

Do you ship to New Zealand?
Yes – NZ studios buy at the same band price as our Australian members.
